I told you so!

So yesterday when I got home with little Luis and Mickey I kind of noticed something was wrong with Joey. I asked him how he was and he said "Fine". But me being the Mommy I am new something was wrong.

After a while I went back his room and talked to him as a "Friend" and told him that I was "here" if he needed someone to talk to. He caved in and told me one of his "Friends" was in real trouble. (I will not mention his name and what happened). He explained to me what had happened and how sad he was. The thing about this "Friend" is that he did not convince me when I first met "Friend". And I had mentioned to Joey that I really did not want him around. So I gave him my opinion on what had happened and told him that sometimes, people don't think about the consequences that their actions will bring. I told him I was there for him when he needed me and I am glad to say that even though I was sooo tempted to say "I told you so" I did not.

Why? Because I don't think that he will understand all the concerns that I had with this "Friend". Instead I told him that there are things that we will never understand and that he can't see the whole picture from his corner. I told him that I felt his pain but that he could only have him in his prayers and wish for a good outcome of all of this. And the most important was that his "friend" learned from this mistake and will think twice before doing anything in the future.

As always, "mom knows best". Sometimes they don't want to understand that everything we do or say is for their own good.

Yoly, You are so right on this. I know that when he is older he will appreciate all of what I am trying to do for him. And there will always be something and it will all pass. I could never imagine Motherhood for a teenager would be so hard.

*** sigh***

I'm so glad you didn't tell him I told you so...sometimes it's the last thing they wanna hear...

I think you did a good job handling the 'sichua' (situation).
